About Me

My name is Elena Cheung, and I was born and raised in Ithaca, NY. I recently graduated with my B.A. in Psychology from SUNY Geneseo. My interest in photography piqued at a young age, as my mother enjoyed taking photos of me with disposable film cameras. We would often dress up and take pictures around my neighborhood. In high school, I met friends who ran their own photography business or page, and modeled for many creative photoshoots through my sophomore to senior years. It was during this time that I discovered my appreciation for the art of photography, sometimes using friend's camera to shoot pictures of them.

I got my first digital camera in June of this year, and ever since, I have been taking photos nonstop. I have about 600 photos that I have shot and edited recently, and am learning how to shoot in manual. Although I am relatively new to photography, my experience in front of the camera helps me pose my models, as well as make them feel comfortable and confident in their skin. I am connected to trained photographers, both on the amateur and professional level, who I am able to turn to for advice when I am stuck. I love portrait photography, and have found it to be my favorite type of photos to capture. I especially enjoy shooting in natural lighting, in beautiful nature locations. Being based in Ithaca enables me to find hidden gems in the area, many of which I've grown up near. 

I am dedicated to making my clients feel confident in front of the camera, and appreciate their own unique beauty. I can't wait to see where this journey takes me, and hope you'll join me along the way!
